It is my mission to enable your business to be climate responsible. I believe that green companies are necessary to keep our society function and to transition to a sustainable society. In my vision companies are climate responsible when they focus on all of these three pillars:1) Providing products or services that benefit society;2) Actively reduce any emissions;3) Using their financial power to support positive climate impact.I believe planting trees (when done right) is the best way to make positive climate impact, as they also benefit our society and the environment. The best way to plant trees is to use them to celebrate sustainable choices made by customers. For example by planting a tree when customers buy a refurbished or second hand product. This way we use positive impact to inspire people to change their behavior and make sustainable the fun option. Making positive impact shouldn't be used to merely "compensate" emissions of climate intensive products that are not necessary for our society.These pillars and vision are bundled into a new framework I like to call "Climate Responsible Business" ("Klimaat Verantwoord Ondernemen" in Dutch).IT is able to provide transparency, and allows us to scale sustainability when done right. My belief that IT has to play a role in making our society more sustainable led me to found unFootprint.
