At Payara I was responsible for furthering the Payara server product, contributing as the Payara representative to Jakarta EE, and leading the technical team. AccomplishmentsStarted and lead the work for Payara 5, based off of the then current Payara 4 branch, and successfully released this next generation server. This included updates to subcomponents such as OSGi that the team couldn’t update beforeTook initiative to create Payara Arquillian Connectors, based on the existing Glassfish. Successfully refactored and enhanced these for Payara Server and Payara MicroTook initiative to create Payara Tools for Eclipse, based on the existing Glassfish Tools, optimised for Payara with many enhancements and bug fixesDesigned and implemented an HTTP based protocol and thin JNDI based client for remote EJB (replacing traditional Corba/IIOP)Implemented the MicroProfile JWT spec in a short amount of time, with very few bugs and architected in such a way it’s usable standalone as wellSolved long standing integration issues with Hibernate Validator by acting as a liaison between the Red Hat team and Payara, and suggestion the technical approachBig refactoring of the aging security code to make it more maintainable and extensibleSetting up and running CI/CD pipelines at the Eclipse foundation to build various components for the Glassfish 5.1 releaseSetting up and running the various TCK jobs at the Eclipse foundation for the Jakarta EE 8 releaseSitting on the Jakarta EE Specification Committee as the Payara representative
