Monitoring Yellow Warblers at several sites in the Upper Arrow Lakes Reservoir area of Revelstoke, BC as a part of BC Hydro's long-term monitoring project assessing reservoir regulation impacts on nesting lowland, highland, and riparian bird species. Data collected will be used to inform reservoir flow procedures as well as for research into the demography of migrating birds in Western North America. Monitoring involves tracking individuals by song, targeted and passive mist netting, colour banding individuals and recording UTMs, monitoring nests, banding nestlings, and applying radiotransmitters to a subset of nestlings. Work is performed during early hours in uneven terrain in variable weather conditions and employs the use of mist nets, GPS, a 4X4 vehicle, waders, and canoeing.
