East Himalayan yew population got declined by 90% due to overharvesting of leaves and barks for production of anti-cancer drug ‘paclitaxel’. Responsibilities- I led the field expeditions to assess distribution, population structure, habitat characteristics and threats of species.- I prepared distribution models for different projections to understand impact of climate change in distribution.- Prepare sustainable harvesting plans for 7 community forests of Parbat and Baglung district, Nepal.- Provided capacity building programs on sustainable species management to local community forest user groups.
