Hence, these projects are always associated with short duration and high intensity with extensive front-end loading. The traditional view of turnarounds and shutdowns holds that they are merely maintenance and engineering events.A more realistic and holistic approach recognizes turnarounds as projects whose impact and scope extend far beyond these basic functions. They can command significant capital and operating budgets. This scientific research aims to answer the following question: ``How to better manage turnaround projects based on a Critical Success Factors analysis, in order to improve project productivity?".
