I am a science driven individual with an entrepreneurial bent of mind adamant to advance the future of food by making it more sustainable, efficient and transparent. Removing animals from the supply chain through alternatives produced using either plants, microorganisms or cells is currently the best way. This field is commonly referred to as alternative protein or smart protein.True to my belief of conscious capitalism being more impactful than spreading awareness, I have co-founded Pawsible Foods, a sustainable pet food startup developing nutritious and palatable sources of nutrition without the involvement of animals. We are one of the first fermentation-driven pet food companies in APAC with a focus on the Indian market. I am closely involved with The Good Food Institute (GFI) India and APAC through the Alt Protein Project, a global student movement dedicated to turning universities into engines for alternative protein education, research, and innovation. As the Co-Organiser of the Delhi Smart Protein Project (the first Indian Alt Protein Project), I work hands-on with students, professors, industry and academia experts alike on three priority areas: awareness, community and research. Our team, Protylium, innovated in strain improvement of medicinal mushrooms for application in alt seafood using fermentation and we emerged as one of the winners of the competition. The interest in the sector was further strengthened by attending conferences and events such as AAHAR, Plant Based Foods Summit, FHA Singapore, The Good Food Conference, Smart Protein Summit, EAGxSingapore and taking part in Cambridge University’s Alternative Proteins Fundamentals Programme.
