My focus is to ensure that attorneys, paralegals and support staff perform optimally in terms of executing instructions relating to property transfers and bond registrations, maintaining and building new client relationships, adherence to compliance by staff members, training clients on property related topics, representing the firm at client functions and problem solving. I however started out as the manager of the firm’s main branch, and was tasked to effectively manage a group of paralegals who performed all aspects in the conveyancing process. It was a massive challenge as my predecessor already had built a successful branch, but I am proud in the fact that the branch had more than doubled its production and income targets within the first six months under my leadership. I attribute this achievement to assisting staff members in reaching their full potential and motivating them to strive for superior client satisfaction. I, myself, worked extremely hard to maintain existing client relationships, and to build new ones with the view of expanding the business. During this period, I spent a lot of time on sharping up my technical legal knowledge in specifically the property law, contract law and dispute resolution. Before joining Snymans I had very little public speaking experience, but I quickly developed the skill to address and train large groups on research that I have personally done on property related case law and legislation. It is an art to break complex legal principles down into a language that is understandable by the laymen, and a very important value add service. Through my strong work ethic, I have established long lasting relationships that are built on trust. Clients often contact me for advice on various aspects.

Rosebank, Johannesburg

I attended to the transfer of commercial properties for a large oil company and to the transfer of residential properties. I physically prepared the transfer documents, and performed all other functions in the conveyancing process, which included liaising with sellers, buyers, estate agents, external attorneys, banks and mortgage originators. I was also instructed in various property law matters such as contract disputes, due diligence projects and landlord and tenant issues, which matters I handled with ease. In addition to my handling of property law matters I was instructed in High – and Magistrate’s Court litigation matters in which I acted on behalf of the abovementioned oil company. The litigious matters stemmed from contract disputes and normal debt collection. The firm had many clients, of which the Pension Fund was one, so I also had exposure to reviewing claims and writing judgments based on the relevant legislation.

In August 2007 I was approached by the directors of this firm to manage its Midrand branch, and took the opportunity enthusiastically, but unfortunately 9 months into my employment the branch was closed following the world-wide economic crunch.

Rivonia, Johannesburg

I was initially appointed as a member of a team of professionals who acted on behalf of the Johannesburg municipality in defended collection matters, but shortly after taking the conveyancing exam successfully at my first attempt, I was transferred to the property law department. In less than 30 days after writing the conveyancing exam, I also wrote the notary exam, and passed it, also at my first attempt. In the litigation department I attended to all litigation functions that followed issuing of the summons up to the closing of pleadings, where after Counsel was appointed to attend to the functions leading up to and including the actual trial. In the property law department, I attended to all aspects of property transfers, commercial and residential, bond registrations and bond cancellations. The paralegals relied heavily on me for the signature of transfer and bond documents, and that had resulted in me consulting with clients for many hours per day.
