Co-wrote Sun's first Internet Business Plan.At Digital Equipment Corporation (DEC):Worked in advanced development, product strategy, and product development.Accomplishments included: - Instrumental in formation of the POSIX IEEE P1003 standards effort, member of steering committee; - Designed interprocess communications facilities. Ported UNIX to an asymmetric multi-processing shared-memory UNIX system (first on native VAX-11/782, second overall); - Key author of DEC's UNIX strategy; - Architect and engineering manager for native UNIX VAX operating system product (Ultrix); - Hired 50 engineers; - Designed high-level architecture for real-time Space Shuttle launch-phase tracking system as part of NASA’s Return-to-Space program, on loan from DEC; - Instrumental in formation of the Open Software Foundation; - Part of small team to propose, design, and develop DEC's first RISC-based workstation product, DECstation 3100.Norwalk Hospital - Hospital-side systems analysis, focusing on information flow between departments for design of one of the early patient information computer systems, supporting online patient medical records - Worked on dynamic imaging series capture functionality for a Searle "Pho/Gamma" gamma-ray scintillation camera for use in medical diagnostics. - Interfaced Technicon Sequential Multiple Analyzer SMA 6/60 medical chemistry analyzer system to hospital patient records.At Bell Labs: - Developed UNIX kernel system diagnostics and recovery capabilities; - Investigated and mitigated performance issues in Bell System UNIX-based switching system control and operations support systems.
