I'm passionate about using the power of big data, artificial intelligence and machine learning to improve people's lives. This work requires finding complex patterns and explaining them to non-technical audiences. I seek to emulate MC Escher, who used patterns and hyperbolic geometry to create compelling images, showing very advanced concepts in a very simple manner.I have supported multiple Departments (State, Transportation, Health and Human Services, Justice and Defense) in analyzing big data, applying artificial intelligence/machine learning to solve problems, and plan for emerging technologies.Examples:- Implemented machine learning (ML) pilot for the Department of Transportation (DOT) to lower compliance costs for both DOT and state partners- Developed proof-of-concept to help Department of Health and Human Services visualize connections between subjects of investigation and known or suspected criminals, employing Python, Bokeh, Flask and Dash, using Agile product development- Built analytic tools for identifying fraudulent activities on the Bitcoin blockchain, with application for other cryptocurrencies and financial transactions, including creating a MySQL database with indexes to optimize analytic queries- At the Department of Justice, created Data Science Community of Interest and created "Introduction to Data Science" to inform personnel about data science- Created maps and visualizations to help Department of State policymakers understand events and place them in greater context, and to help them explain this context to the public - At the Department of Defense, served as project lead to develop methodologies for applying machine learning and quantitative analytics
