As an associate in the litigation team, I had day to day conduct of a diverse range of litigious insolvency, banking and general commercial disputes. The key areas I gained experience in included:- Providing general commercial advice to corporate clients in the areas of leasing, franchising, property, corporate governance and shareholder issues, and contractual disputes;- Regularly appearing as an advocate before the Supreme Court of NSW and Federal Court, as well as before the Local and District Courts;- Advising insolvency practitioners and directors in relation to external administration (including administration, liquidation, creditors' trusts and receivership);- Conducting public examinations under the Corporations Act;- Advising creditors and debtors before and during bankruptcy;- Insolvency recovery proceedings including unfair preferences, insolvent trading, and unreasonable director related / uncommercial transactions.
