About James Armstrong

I am a Digital Accessibility lead with focus on UnitedHealth Group vendors and customers. I build partnerships with stakeholders in Business, IT, legal, compliance, vendor management and others to set priorities, influence policy and align processes to support shared goals for meeting WCAG, section 508, ACA, ADA and providing a great experience for anyone who uses our digital products and services.- Adaptable and detail-oriented with demonstrated ability to influence and build capability - Over 10 years of digital accessibility experience and knowledge of laws and guidelines and best practices- Professional certifications in accessibility and project management and currently serving as UHG’s Advisory Committee Representative to the W3C- Related experience in project management, product development and training, and in healthcare, legal, pharma and educationMy interest in digital accessibility began as a User Experience Designer while researching a project that came with accessibility requirements. The role disabilities played in my family and work life fueled my interest and digital accessibility quickly became my area of focus. Awareness of accessibility at UnitedHealth Group grew over time and so did demand for accessibility testing, training and remediation support. From my start as an Accessibility Engineer on our small team I have grown into roles that helped mature the practice and build capability in the organization at scale. Today I am grateful to be part of a thriving practice of exceptional accessibility professionals collaborating with hundreds of teams, stakeholders, leaders and other partners throughout the organization.
