1. Built test reactor rigs at lab scale along with catalyst design and characterization including but not limited to emission control testing, indoor air quality, and remediation market. 2. Identify R&D challenges and propose new avenues for technological development toward the targeted growth market. 3. Worked along with cross-functional departments like process, manufacturing, quality control, and technical solutions to better facilitate the efficiency of product design for the end user market resulting in the growth of business in new applications and avenues for the company.

My main focus over the 10 months long internship at the Catalysts and After-treatment Systems at GM constituted of model catalyst synthesis, characterization for state of art three-way catalysts (TWCs). The latter part of the time was spent on building and assembling a multi-flow gas reactor to simulate realistic tail-pipe emission exhausts under the guidance of Dr. Wei Li.

Run testing in terms of performance on the state-of-the-art three-way catalysts including catalyst preparation and characterization using bulk techniques. Deliverables include successfully synthesizing model mixed oxide support for emission studies including characterization. Prepared manuscripts and internal reports including presentations at regular group meetings regarding the progress of my internship work

We measured the time-resolution of an MWPC using a californium source which emits 97% alpha particles and 3% fission fragments. Constructed a Time of Flight (TOF) setup with MWPC as a start detector and a liquid scintillator as the stop detector. The time resolution of the MWPC was found out to be 471.7 ps from the TOF spectra.
