Materials Measurement Science Division, NISTServed as an interdisciplinary expert, collaborated with national/international institutes, provided scientific expertise and recommendations regarding analytical extraction techniques, characterization, and analysis, prepared technical/regulatory reports/presentations, reviewed/updated SOPs, and ensured timely and reliable completion of projects:• Collaborated with the National Research Council of Canada to evaluate the chemical properties of Cellulose Nanocrystals Standard Reference Materials and helped them with the product registration. • Managed laboratory functions including project planning, designing, and conducting research experiments, reviewing and writing scientific literature, troubleshooting instruments and making recommendations, using strong decision making and problem-solving skills, which results in near completion of two research projects in a year. Worked as a postdoctoral research scientist in a state analytical research institute under the FDA-FERN (The Food Emergency Response Network under the US-Food and Drug Administration (FDA-FERN: https://www.fernlab.org/)) grant. Projects were based on the detection and quantification of emerging contaminants, e.g., heavy metals, nanoparticles, pesticides, drug residues, etc. in food and environmental matrices using various analytical techniques (ICP-OES, ICP-MS, TEM, SEM, DLS, UV-vis, LC-MS, and GC-MS), gained expertise in nanotoxicology and food safety. Prepared and updated SOPs and technical guidelines, trained technicians and junior lab members, and coordinated lab safety training.• Managed laboratory functions including sample preparation, analysis, data interpretation, statistical analysis, and technical writing/ SOP. Promote sustainability around the campus. The biggest achievement during my tenure was to make the UTEP campus "Tobacco Free" and launched numerous related awareness programs.

It is more than a quarter million dollar fund to promote sustainable projects (related, but not limited to, energy and environment) in the UTEP campus and surrounding areas.
