Dr. Arnaud Comolet is a Senior Environmental, Sustainable Development and Green Economic Policies Expert and Programme Manager with more than 35 years of professional experience. After obtaining his PhD in Economics (1990), for which he specialised in environmental accounting and assessment and wrote a thesis on “Accounting for nature: elements for a driving analysis of systems of natural capital accounts”, he began focussing on long-term consultancy and advisory services for: the Institute for European Environmental Policy (IEEP) in Paris (1987-1993); Planistat Europe (1994-2002); UNDP (2002-2005, 2016-2017, and 2018-2019); the City Council of Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines in France (2005-2014); the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity’s (SCBD, UNEP) for the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2014-2016); and finally the UNEP’s Blue Plan in the Mediterranean region (2018, and 2020-2021). He joined Technopolis Paris in September 2021 as a Principal Consultant on issues related to ecological transition and sustainable, inclusive development. From 1st February 2023 he will continue his activity as free lance consultant. Arnaud has a dynamic personality with excellent interpersonal skills and a capacity to build long term relationships with partners engaged in the implementation of Agenda 2030, and has demonstrated professional and multidisciplinary competence in a broad range of issues and tools related to the sustainable and international management of natural capital, including biodiversity and ecosystems protection, water management and water economics, marine and coastal environment, green/blue economy and natural capital accounting, climate change mainstreaming and climate finance, and a strong experience in providing policy advice and strategic direction in these areas drawing upon international best practices and multi-country experience, including 10 years of field experience in African, Asian, Caribbean, Eastern-European and Mediterranean developing countries. He therefore is the perfect candidate to provide advice and transfer knowledge on environmental, sustainable development, green/blue, poverty reduction policies to countries; decision makers and stakeholders on a long-term basis.
