During my role as Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-general, Assistant Secretary-General, I addressed political and security issues and represented the UN through the Department of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs and the Department of Peace Operations during the Algiers Peace process (2014-2015). I Assessed and resolved multiple social, economic, and political challenges in Mali and strengthened roles of civil society for their effective participation in the implementation of the Peace Agreement. I Consolidated internal capacities of MINUSMA staff and local stakeholders, which resulted in deployment of MINUSMA officers in northern and central regions of Mali.𝗠𝘆 𝗠𝗮𝗷𝗼𝗿 𝗔𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗱𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲: ● Led the UN Mediation Team during the Algiers peace process (2014-2015) and integrated contributions from all UN agencies in the UN recommendations for the Peace Agreement.● Contributed in the establishment of an inclusive platform that paved the way for political, constitutional institutional, and governance reforms to re-establish the rule of law and rebuild efficient justice and security systems following the 2015 Algiers Accords.● Administered 14,000 people including the entire administration, military personnel, UN police, civil affairs, and political affairs to assure operational efficiency in bringing peace in Northern Mali as Interim Special Representative of the Secretary-general (SRSG) and Head of MINUSMA (August 2014 to mid- January 2015).

During this role I developed trust and strong partnerships with government authorities, political stakeholders, and civil society actors following the post-electoral crisis to restore peace and security through military justice, human rights, and security sector reform (SSR). I reinforced rule of law in the country through joint work with the Conseil National de Sécurité, the UN SSR Working Group and the UN Peacebuilding Fund. I deployed the UN police country-wide to support the restoration of state authority and provide citizens and residents with a feeling of adequate protection from the State.
