About Arnav Ajay
I'm a Junior at the Pratt School of Engineering at Duke University, pursuing degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science with a concentration in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.My areas of experience and interest include microcontroller programming and embedded system design including PCB design, which I learned when working on a deliverable for the Durham Museum of Life and Science. I have also worked with Computer Assisted Design (CAD), C++, Java, Python, and Matlab in my research positions and I continued to work with these tools as part of the Duke Combat Robotics Team. More recently, I have been working with Professor Rahib Younes at Duke University to develop three physical therapy apps for iOS, and I also worked with Professor Farshad Firouzi to develop an LLM-based multimodal healthcare assistant.My current interests are in Embedded Systems, Robotics, and Machine Learning, for which I plan to continue growing my experience both at and beyond Duke.

Currently working under Professor Rahib Younes to develop and deliver 3 unique iOS physical therapy apps. I am implementing Apple Vision and ARKit libraries in SwiftUI to create novel physical therapy exercises, which include live gaze-tracking and pupil detection, to assist Oculomotor Disorder patients. Worked in a team of four other engineering students to create a custom humidification system for the museum's Leafcutter Ant exhibit. The humidity in the exhibit was recorded using an AHT20 humidity sensor and a 5V ultrasonic humidifier was activated accordingly using an ESP32 microcontroller, all of which were housed and mounted using custom 3D printed parts. The ESP32 was also used to create a local webserver to track the progress of the humidification system. Currently working to improve the system so that it can be installed and implemented for continuous use.

Worked under the Chief Executive Officer, Scott Harsany, to create elderly care solutions using a modified Raspberry Pi and ESP32 microcontroller system integrated with tilt sensors, hazardous gas monitors, and alert systems. All systems were controlled using Docker, and all progress was monitored using Grafana. Understood the system architecture and worked on the reporting module to create custom reports of IoT data using Grafana.
