Stafmedewerker Maatschappelijke Innovatie
Project Coordinator
Digitization of the most vulnerable deserves even more attention now in times of covid. As a project coordinator, I have developed and implemented a new project in which we focus on empowering vulnerable refugees in Limburg towards a stronger digital participation and inclusion in local society. The project provides meeting points at various locations in Limburg to tackle the digital gap of vulnerable newcomers. At these locations, we provide access to the use of digital tools together with capacity building activities conducted by our own volunteers.
Researcher
TRIAS is an NGO working on global development cooperation. I was part of the newly createdreflection task force within TRIAS in order to give the organisation a better insight in the phenomenon of migration. As an expert in transnational migrations, I was assigned to draft a first conceptualisation paper describing briefly the nature and scope of the migration issue globally. Secondarily, the paper served as a first step to understanding region-specific migration patterns, the main perspectives of the sending and receiving countries as well as the major links with the specific Trias approach and impact
Migration And Refugee Programme Support Officer
During the two times I have been engaging with PATRIR, my primary responsibilities were:(1) RESEARCH AND PROGRAMME SUPPORT: supporting the programmatic lines for both theBeyond Violent Extremism programme as the Migration and Refugee programme. This includedreviewing existing literature on polarisation, radicalisation, as well as resettlement procedures andintegration processes along with collecting and summarising key materials to address thesephenomena).(2) PROPOSAL DEVELOPMENT: Alongside the programme support, I was introduced in the projectcycle – how projects are conceived, transformed to proposals, submitted to donors and eventuallyaccepted as projects. I was present in brainstorming and programme design meetings for projectsfocussing on polarisation, mediation, mission-support and training. During my internship, I was alsopart of the core team developing an EEA action grant to address polarisation through culture in theCEE region.(3) MAPPING, IDENTIFYING RELEVANT STAKEHOLDERS: One aspect of programme supportincludes ‘mapping’ stakeholders for either (a) potential partnership, (b) financial support / funding lines, (c) becoming target beneficiaries of certain actions taken through the programme. This included deskbased research of organisations, institutes, practitioners, law enforcement agencies and more, compiling the most relevant and highlighting them through presentations to the team.
Program Assistant Internship
During my internship period at UNESCO's sector for Social and Human sciences in the RegionalOffice in Dakar, my main responsibilities were part of:(1) RESEARCH SUPPORT: This included reviewing existing literature on various themes (such asCulture of Peace, Youth migration and Youth empowerment) as well as following up and evaluating studies on Peace and the Intercultural Dialogue. Secondly, I was asked to analyse initiated projects on positive social transformations, cultural dialogue, human rights and gender-based approaches in order to promote constructive action in the light of common well-being, democratization and peace building in West-Africa and Sahel region(2) PROGRAMME SUPPORT: In the build-up to the 2019 national elections in Senegal, I helpedorganising a MOST School (i.e. capacity-building activities focused on strengthening thecompetencies for translating evidence-based knowledge into action). For this project, I helped with creating and hosting the workshop of which the primary goal was to support long-term sustainable youth empowerment and leadership.(3) REPRESENT the sector's vision and interest at various multilateral meetings and conferenceshosted by other UN institutions or national governing bodies on topics related to gender-basedviolence, women's empowerment, (bio)ethics, etc.(4) COMMUNICATION AND OUTREACH: When the sector organised herself similar meetings, Icontributed to the many invitation drafts, meeting documents and other preparation related activities
