- Identified and characterized air freight routes, aircraft usage, and airfield components across 30 airports in 6 states. Evaluated regional trends across 15 years. Estimated potential market capture measurements for operators at a Mid-Size Primary Airport in Indiana. Described facility improvements, sources of freight volume, and air carrier operations that could align with existing facilities and geographic opportunities.- Calculated existing and historical volumes across a group of air cargo, rail, and intermodal handling facilities. Developed simplified descriptions of different freight handling approaches and identified partners to expand capacity and attract customers and tenants.- Applied methods to combine and compare data from air, rail, truck, and intermodal freight traffic using data from the Federal Highway Administration, Surface Transportation Board, and Federal Aviation Administration to identify year-to-year trends in demand and mode share across a multi- county area. Identified existing freight handling trends to help assess opportunities for a large property development proposal.

- Interpreted travel demand model developed by the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP), converted existing model to a separate modeling platform, and modified models to assess the potential traffic impacts of a large infrastructure project.- Developed methods to combine and compare data from air, rail, truck, and barge freight traffic using data from the Federal Highway Administration, Surface Transportation Board, Federal Aviation Administration, and Army Corps of Engineers to identify long-term trends in demand and mode share. Combined freight and demographic data to develop county level profiles of existing and future conditions- Developed and applied methods to evaluate traffic behaviors and delay conditions across railroad-highway grade crossings using the National Performance Management Research Data Set (NPMRDS) to identify priorities for more detailed studies and investments. Presented results at National Science Foundation Transportation Research Board (TRB) 2017 Annual Meeting (Conference Paper 17-02291).- Developed and applied methods to extract and calculate engineering criteria and performance measurements using the NPMRDS and ArcGIS to compare roadways with comparable segments. Presented results at TRB 2016 Annual Meeting. Paper was selected for publication in the Transportation Research Record (Conference Paper 16-6214, 2596 Palmerlee 16-D 07).

- Provided subject matter knowledge to identify framework and scope for the City Digital Urban Logistics Workshop. Documented on-going research and current state of last-mile logistics initiatives and potential opportunities to focus discussion topics. Conceived and developed written and visual materials used in workshop. - Identified opportunities to apply payment and traffic data to reduce delivery congestion and improve delivery performance for multiple customers and service providers. Developed framework to identify and analyze logistics practices and polices and identify collaboration opportunities between 20 firms, public agencies, researchers, and non-profits in different fields.- Developed a process framework to securely exchange data between transit agencies and employers to incentivize commuting alternatives.

- Developed market capture estimates by combining ridership estimates, geographic boundaries, and longitudinal employment data from the U.S. Census and other sources. Utilized estimates to identify changes in market and demographic conditions and how employment patterns have changed across a multi-year study period. Identified opportunities to develop partnerships and address emerging regional needs.- Used SQL and ArcGIS tools to analyze results from several online and in-person surveys. Interpreted and presented travel demand results from the CMAP Travel Tracker database. - Assessed and re-created an indicator model to characterize transit accessibility, location equity, and employment opportunities using data from a metropolitan planning organization (MPO), the state department of transportation, local transit agencies, U.S. Census data, and other sources. Used ArcGIS spatial and visualization tools to identify service levels changes across municipal and jurisdictional boundaries. Evaluated methods and identified data requirements to sustain efforts for future time periods an different metropolitan areas. Embedded methods in Access VBA to allow for future code maintenance and to assist future users.- Developed methods to assess and correlate freight movement data between ocean-borne, rail, and truck modes using Maritime Administration, Surface Transportation Board Waybills, Freight Analysis Framework projections, port industry data, and other sources to identify intermodal transfers, evaluate the potential impacts of important changes, and validate traffic projections.- Identified socio-economic, demographic, and market characteristics to assist the development and deployment of a pilot Bus Rapid Transit service. Provided written reports and presented data to project leaders.

- Developed programming code and automated methods to incorporate EMME/2 travel planning data from a metropolitan planning organization (MPO), traffic analysis zones, mapping data, and other sources to formulate a dynamic traffic assignment model using the Dynus-T dynamic traffic model application. Tailored inputs to evaluate the implications of regional freight network changes.- Identified and communicated potential approaches to accommodate potential diversions from existing water corridors to overland routes and high-capacity intermodal interchange methods.

- Developed project plans, project funding opportunities for a non-profit entrepreneurship education organization. Identified grant-making organizations, foundations, and sponsorships to advance the organization’s mission and purpose.- Negotiated a Community Benefits Agreement on behalf of the Washington Park Olympic Coalition. Discussions involved the Chicago 2016 Olympic Committee, several members of the Chicago City Council, and other community groups to identify economic, housing, employment, and training opportunities. Agreement was adopted by the Chicago 2016 Committee and the City Council in May 2009.- Developed a community-wide, long-term strategic plan with members of the Washington Park community. Incorporated long-term goals for education, economic development, and housing. Identified goals, milestones, and individual projects.- Developed a project promotion, route planning, and economic development plan for the Midwest High Speed Rail Association. Plan provided information on the planning and operation of comparable projects in other countries. Route plan identified economic, political, institutional, educational, and transportation hubs and the potential of improved rail access.

- Developed initial draft of project plan and project kick-off presentation during first engagement with a $30 million pharmaceuticals manufacturer. Led development of project interview strategy, assessed manufacturer’s technology strategy and quality systems. Assisted development of a strategic vision for process and organizational changes, knowledge management, technology deployments, and demand planning.- Attained a Technical Lead position for a $1 million enterprise C-language, mainframe strategic sourcing application software project. Developed Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) user test cases, code blocks, and system design documentation. Led problem resolution and business process analysis functions. Used database analysis and data mining skills to address gaps between business requirements and technical implementations. Core project completed on time and on budget.- Assisted development of a pricing strategy and market analysis proposal for a high technology manufacturer to improve financial forecasting and decision making and to enable demand forecasting improvements across a global customer base.

- Designed, coded, and tested an Excel VBA and Oracle PL/SQL-based tool to evaluate and generate event-based network-wide performance reports, create trend analysis, assess and predict customer impacts, reduce delays, and identify future performance improvement initiatives from internal operations and maintenance databases.- Integrated asset tracking data with deployment and transportation control plans, asset availability reports, and maintenance and mechanical records to refine overall performance reporting and enable effective statistical analysis.- Proposed an agent-based technology project to enable dynamic operational changes, scheduling and performance improvements, and improve communications. Approaches were largely adopted by a $24.1 million system-wide capital project.

- Investigated opportunities to create synergies between freight transportation routes, transit facilities, and community development projects in the South and West suburbs of Chicago. Utilized GIS tools to identify viable industrial and commercial development sites, conducted site assessments, and interviewed local stakeholders. Project is continuing to attract business development interest.- Used Federal DOT data and EPA models to estimate emissions from different transit systems. Created new models to estimate future emissions after considering changes in capital equipment. Refined models to analyze transit capital planning projects.

- Coordinated problem resolution across a service delivery value chain. Interpreted contracts, analyzed impacts, and identified appropriate resolution contacts. Developed and implemented action plans across functional boundaries. Assured timely responses to serious service quality issues.
