Development of flame retardant products:By request of customers a custom made flame retardant is developed specifically suited for the customers product. In this manner many products have been made flame retardant.I select the raw materials (having flame retarding properties) and manage contact with suppliers discussing volume and specifications. Consequently, I manage the research in the lab, directing one lab assistant. In the case of a positive result, I manage the upscaling in production and also the integration of the product into the customers process.Furthermore, I am developing the portfolio of flame retardants we present at the market and new business developments. We keep in touch with customers of their present and future needs and keep updated with legislation.I provide the factory with technical support. I look into new process before they are introduced into the factory and provide support in case of process issues.

As a researcher at Saxion I developed functional ink jet inks. The aim was to print ink with an ink jet printer onto a textile substrate. The desired properties were good printability onto the (uneven) surface of the textile and having a desired functionality, such as self-cleaning effect. In this project the self-cleaning property was removal of algae. We were successful in adding an raw material to the ink which accelerated the decomposition of the algae, while retaining good printability in the ink.As a lecturer I supervised several students as they graduated. All of them graduated with an 8 or higher.

Product and process developer. Focus on developing products for automotive customers. A development would mainly consist of raw material selection, development of yarns (in-house) with these selected materials, continue to develop a non-woven with the yarns produced and finally field testing. Alongside the prototyping, the production process would be optimized with the production engineers. The work works always done in multi-disciplinary teams. Successful products were a lightweight car carpet carrier and a recyclable carpet carrier which lead to a patent:EU patent: 14192608.0 – 1303 recyclable non-woven

Paintshop Manager, responsible for all painted parts within the factory. Quality and optimization (mainly increasing productivity and decreasing rejects) of the painting process were key focus area's.Responsible for the Gazelle paintshop The paint process consisted of adding a primer, two colour layers and a topcoat. I was able to improve the output of the production and the quality in terms of lowering the amount of rejected painted items.I changed the culture of distrust by the employees to a workforce which was loyal and happy be in the department. This I accomplished by being open, being present accepting their ideas and putting these ideas into action.

Product and process developer. Focus on developing products for rotary label print customers. . Product management requested a product, I was responsible for the development of this product. I would select raw materials, lead the lab research, upscaling and integration at the customer. The work was always done in multi-disciplinary teams.Successful developments realised by me are a rotary printing form for high deposit ink onto labels. This application is to print onto a label on bottles that have dangerous contents a tangible warning mark. Another successful development is the development of a laser engravable coating which led to the two patents:EU patent: WO2009144039 (A1) and WO2009148303 (A1)
