I've worked over thirty years in the Miami-Dade County Public School System (M-DCPS) and have extensive experience with developing strategic curriculum plans, supervising technology programs, managing capital improvement projects, coordinating the facilitation of organizational plans, evaluating personnel, overseeing multi-million dollar budgets along with the expertise in the execution of specialized programs such as the Annenberg Endowment, 21st Century Grants and the governance of Title I Programs. I've served as principal of North Miami Middle School and Andover Middle School, Regional Administrative Director to the Education Transformation Office (ETO) and recently the Administrative Director for the Office of Educational Equity, Access, and Diversity (OEEAD).I've participated in various leadership programs and enterprises while receiving awards and accolades including the Superintendent’s Urban Principal Initiative Program (SUPI) and Harvard’s Graduate School of Education Principal Center Leadership Development Program. I’ve attended strategic planning sessions at the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in Maryland and Virginia, collaborated on a National Special Projects Plan to craft a critical incident plan/memorandum of agreement to coordinate services and information exchange models between first response units/agencies during emergencies for large metropolitan cities. Selected by the Superintendent of Schools to participate in the first class of the Principal’s Development Leadership Program at Florida International University, selected as Region Center One’s 2010-2011 candidate for Principal of the Year, the Miami-Dade Media Specialist Association 2009-2010 Principal of the Year, twice nominated for Region/District Teacher of the Year, nominated for Who's Who in Teaching, and the 2003 -2004 Exceptional Student Education Administrator of the Year.
