-Assuming the role of team leader,providing,individualized,holistic nursing care and staff allocation ensuring the day to day running of the intensive care unit.-Provision of continuous close monitoring of critically ill patients connected to multiparameter monitors,infusion pumps, and on parenteral nutrition.-Assisting with and or intubation of patients to maintain an airway for mechanical ventilation.-Dynamic analysis and interpretation of patients blood results and intervening suitably to restore homeostasis and hasten recovery.-Planning for the receiving, and transfer of patients while maintaining both a safe environment and availing of alternative care protocols in the event of advent complications.-Offering emotional sarport to the patient and relatives through out the period of illness and even up to loss of patient.-Supervision of staff in the unit ensuring task allocation based on individual competence resulting in good patient out comes.
