The Diversity Alliance for Science is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing a platform to identify, attract, and develop minority, disabled, women, LGBTQ, and other diverse-owned businesses to drive inclusive procurement practices in corporate, academic, and governmental entities to promote diversity and inclusion within the life science and healthcare industries. Since 2011, I have partnered with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to research, identify, negotiate, contract, and manage the main stage general session content at the organization’s two largest annual conferences, ensuring that the diversity of the membership is reflected in the keynote speakers and conference content. Previous keynote speakers booked include NBA legend Earvin “Magic” Johnson, Shark Tank star Daymond John, and former NFL player and NASA Astronaut Leland Melvin. Most recently, Diversity Alliance for Science launched the HELIX Supplier Diversity Forum to guide the leadership, equality, and advancement of a diverse supply chain through the value proposition L.E.A.D.S.:• Leadership – Provide strategic thought leadership, programming, and pharma-specific practices to the lead industry.• Equality – Engage procurement with communications, resources, tools, and suppliers to build an inclusive and equal supply chain.• Advancement – Advance supplier diversity by identifying and solidifying contract opportunities with business line stakeholders.• Diversity – Partner with diverse business organizations (NGOs) and chambers through support and sponsorships.• Suppliers – Prepare small and diverse suppliers to do business within the pharma industry by sponsoring readiness programs and mentorship opportunities.
