Key responsibilities:• Delivering drug development candidates by managing research stages from target finding, via flowscheme definition and realization, hit finding and hit-to-lead, to lead optimization. Responsibility for milestones and patenting strategy.• Central role in interdisciplinary program team, bringing results from in vitro and in vivo pharmacology and ADMET, molecular modeling, physicochemical analyses and target-ligand interaction studies back to molecular properties, and translate them into design and synthesis of optimized generations of “druglike” compounds.• Guidance of a team of synthetic-organic chemists.• Primarily responsible for Lead Optimization activities around a GPCR target related to cognitive dysfunction.Main achievements: • Delivery of 2 preclinical candidates from a unique structural class with added selectivity and safety value over known competitor compounds, of which 1 made it to Phase II clinical trials.• Co-inventor on 4 granted patents. Main author on 2 medicinal chemistry publications, co-author on 1 synthetic and 3 pharmacological publications.Other roles:2009 - 2010: Research Team Representative (Alzheimer’s Team)• Medicinal Chemistry representative in an interdisciplinary Research Team, coordinating, planning and budgeting internal and external research on all Alzheimer’s targets in the global organization.• Proposal of new targets, development of target validation plans, design of flow schemes and communication with external partners/ collaborators.2007 - 2008: Coordinator international chemistry outsourcing• Coordination and support of organic synthesis programs outsourced to a CRO abroad. • Monitoring and steering of progress by regular teleconferences and visits.
