Als vakbondsfunctionaris inventariseer ik bij leden wat er op individueel / collectief niveau op de werkvloer speelt en breng dit, namens de leden, onder de aandacht bij de Universiteit Leiden. Ook bewaken we (de voortgang van) de in de CAO vastgestelde onderwerpen (afspraken). Wij hebben goede kennis hebben van de CAO en de rechtspositieregelingen van de Universiteit Leiden. We weten daardoor wat onze onderhandelingsruimte is.

Lecturer, 1FTE teaching, within the bachelor degree programme International Studies, the Faculty of Humanities, that is situated in The Hague. I support lecture series in the domains of history, culture, socio-linguistics, politics and economics, both on a global scale and for the specific area track Middle East. I teach tutorial groups in the core courses "Global History" (BA1); "International Relations" (BA2); and the are course "Politics Middle East". I also provide lectures for the area course "Politics Middle East."I am the course coordinator for all three courses. As coordinator I am responsible for providing the lesson plans to the respective course teams, communication with the lecturers of the course, and all relevant communication regarding the course. Tutorials have a didactic as well as a social objective. Didactically, tutorials are meant to offer students the opportunity to discuss the subject matter of the lectures and do the assignments (researching, writing and presenting) previously agreed. The aim of tutorials is to enhance academic skills, such as research skills (including literature and primary source research), written and oral presentation and debating skills.I also supervise (academic) internships of students.I am also coordinating a project headed by Prof. Dr. I. Duijvensteijn called "Making History Work". This project has several goals, first, it intends to write a new handbook for the course Global History and, second, integrate a online learning platform into the course Global History. This platform will eventually be integrated into various other courses in International Studies. Finally, the project will restructure the manner in which Reading&Writing, the course where students learn academic reading and writing in the first year, is taught.

De ambtelijk secretarissen ondersteunen de 24 examencommissies van de faculteit op procedureel en juridisch gebied. De secretaris zorgt voor de voorbereiding, verslaglegging en afwikkeling van de besluiten, houdt de jaarplanning in de gaten en het archief van de examencommissie up to date. De ambtelijk secretaris schept de voorwaarden voor een gedegen kwaliteitsborging van de toetsing door de examencommissies, door onder andere de organisatorische en secretariële werkzaamheden uit handen van de examencommissie te nemen. Tevens toetst de ambtelijk secretaris (voorgenomen) besluiten aan de regelgeving, draagt hij/zij bij aan de ontwikkeling van uniforme procedures en vertegenwoordigt de examencommissie in diverse overleggen en bij beroepsprocedures. De werkzaamheden van examencommissies en het ambtelijk secretariaat worden zo ingericht dat de verschillende ambtelijk secretarissen elkaars werk kunnen overnemen, waarmee de continuïteit wordt gewaarborgd.
