I lead Nextracker's solar performance engineering team. We conduct detailed analysis of in-field performance of our market-leading TrueCapture yield-boosting technology to robustly quantify its benefits for our customers. We also develop and deploy advanced analytics to monitor the operations of our massive global tracker fleet, to ensure maximum availability and lowest total cost of ownership throughout the solar plant lifetime. I also formerly served as product management lead for Nextracker's software products , including TrueCapture and NX Navigator, through February 2022.

I led product development and management for our Envision Enlight and Ensight advanced asset management software for commercial and industrial (C&I) and utility-scale solar photovoltaic systems. Enlight provides realtime monitoring coupled with machine-learning algorithms for solar power plant fault detection and root cause analysis. Ensight combines sophisticated domain-specific physical models with machine learning to detect system underperformance and component health issues from conventional time series SCADA data from operating solar assets, and offer prioritized corrective action recommendations to fleet operators and owners to maximize energy production, revenue, and minimize life cycle operating costs. I facilitate multinational teams of researchers, software engineers, sales leaders, and solution delivery specialists to successfully bring market-leading SaaS software for renewable generation assets to our global customer base. I also formerly led the Ensight advanced analytics software for wind technologies as well in 2018-2019. During my time at Envision, we grew from zero to 9.9 GW of deployed software solutions for solar analytics worldwide.

I was the Principal Investigator for the U.S. Department of Energy/NREL System Advisor Model (SAM) and PVWatts renewable energy models. I managed an annual research budget of roughly $ 1.1 million and lead a team of 5+ engineers to develop advanced models of solar power plant system performance and economics. I was the lead software architect for both our cross-platform desktop SAM software written in C++ using wxWidgets, as well as for our software development kit (SDK) that allows others to embed our energy modeling algorithms in their own tools using Python, PHP, C#, Java, MATLAB, and VBA programming interfaces. I also designed and implemented novel algorithms for improving predictions of photovoltaic system performance that have been published in the literature. Our free SAM software has over 35,000 active users in over 144 countries, and PVWatts continues to rank among the top reasons people visit NREL.gov. I frequently presented on our team’s work at international conferences and industry meetings, and enjoyed mentoring interns and junior staff to cultivate focused, happy, and productive teams.
