I supervise 2 graduated, independent licensure track, therapists, during weekly sessions, on all aspects of clinical work, administrative and caseload management, as well as meeting agency performance standards. Providing telehealth clinical services to a caseload of 23-25 weekly appointments has become paramount during the COVID-19 pandemic. At this time, I have adapted my core responsibilities of providing psychotherapy and leadership training to parents, individual adults, and supervisees to an online format and I continue to develop and implement program and professional training content to meet clinical staff needs through collaborative management meetings.

I work with children labeled emotional/behavioral disabled (E/BD) in the Anoka/Hennepin public school district, including day treatment and center based/mainstream education settings as well as a walk-in clinic. Many of these children have suffered acute stress at critical times in their neuro-physiological development and suffer from disruptions in their attachment relationships with primary care-givers. Additionally, many of them have been exposed to traumatic experiences, often unrecognized as such, usually in the context of their family system of origin. I have also worked in Lee Carlson Center’s Domestic Abuse Program, facilitating a men’s “after care” (services that follow “primary care”) process group for men who have committed domestic violence offenses in Anoka County. In this capacity, I helped clients identify their own traumatic experiences, uses of power/control, developmental injuries and the effects of these injuries on their self-concepts, worldview, behavior, and family relationships.

Offered individual and group psychotherapy concentrating on issues of domestic violence including complex trauma, P.T.S.D., safety planning, grief/loss, repairing self-concept and self-esteem, entitlement and control in the attitudes of batterers, parent/child therapy, as well as empowerment to adult and child survivors. Documented therapy sessions, treatment plans, administered bio/psych/soc intake, and presented case studies. Co-facilitated a trauma support group in Spanish. Coordinated client services both within and outside the agency. Supervised graduate and undergraduate student interns. Delivered public presentations outlining the nature and dynamics of domestic violence, agency services and community resources. Educated public organizations about teen dating violence. Advocated/lobbied for pro-DV survivor legislation at the municipal and state levels. Acted as an on site, individual therapist to students in Kansas City Public Schools through the agency’s Project Safe program.
