I worked for Facebook as a software engineer with a focus on iOS and macOS development, initially starting out as entry-level but progressing to a senior software engineer. I used my strengths in collaborating cross-functionally with product and design to make the biggest impact in the projects and features I worked on.I worked on several shorter-lived projects in the Facebook for iOS app related to alternative feed formats, as well as user-facing features (including in Facebook Live) and app infrastructure to improve the video posting and consumption experience.Most of my time spent was building out Spark AR Studio, the desktop app which allows creators to build AR effects for Facebook, Messenger, Instagram and WhatsApp. As we built the app from scratch I designed, built and collaborated on a lot of the early app and UI infrastructure, as well as building out many new and experimental features in the app. I was also a tech lead for a period of time on the project.

- I worked on desktop Safari to develop and implement a new UI feature. I iterated on this through discussions with other members of the team as well as contributing my own ideas.- I presented my feature in various stages both to other members of the Safari team as well as other teams internally.- I also helped other members of the Safari UI team by reviewing their code and giving my feedback about their own features.

Cupertino, Ca

- I worked on the Mac Safari UI, using my skills with Cocoa and Objective-C to extend an existing UI feature, using existing ideas from other team members but also some of my own.- I used git effectively to integrate my changes continually into the shared repository used by the team, detailing these changes to make it easier for others to use my code in future.- I implemented tests for a performance-critical part of the UI feature which would help guard against performance regressions and also indicate areas where performance could be improved.

Part-time Cocoa/Objective-C work.I rebuilt the font preview panes for Fontcase 2.1 to improve the display of and interaction with text previews in different fonts. I built a custom UI control (targeting OS X 10.6) which could handle variable row heights for different font previews and partial reloading of the list. I also implemented font loading for displaying the previews (an expensive operation) in the background so as not to inhibit normal user interaction with the list, such as smooth scrolling.I heavily incorporated the Cocoa text system into the project which made font rendering a lot faster than using NSTextFields and also allowed me to easily implement other features later on, such as 'in-place' preview editing, where each preview behaves both as a simple text preview but if clicked on behaves like a text field so can be edited.
