Based out of Guwahati, Assam, Arpan Kalita is a photographer and story-collector. Travelling is his second nature and Ladakh, his second home. For him, photography started as an escape, just like writing or music. Within his photographs, he carried his hopes and his dreams. Working in the photography community for the past 10 years, and travelling to various parts of India changed his outlook towards the travelling scenario. On one hand, it showed him a world of true beauty, benevolence, Nature's kindness, and compassion of people's hearts. On the other, it made him face the harsh reality of a world devoid of humanity, declining cultural values, irresponsible tourism, and the slow disappearance of the indigenous communities.He believes we are who we are for a lot of reasons and maybe we will never know most of them. But even if we don't have the power to choose where we come from, we can still choose where we go from there. The world, today, is in dire need of responsible travellers who strongly promotes and practices sustainable tourism. Through his stories and photographs, he aims to contribute towards a better and cleaner environment. He hopes that his journey will urge others also to take up responsibility for safeguarding the environment.Apart from working on his various photography tours and workshops, he is currently the Vice President & Exhibition Director, Photography Club of Assam, Visiting Faculty, NID, Assam, Guest Faculty, Pro-Vision Photography Academy, and CANON India Mentor. He has gained valuable expertise working in the past with organizations like MTV, National Geographic India, FOX Travel India, and Pangea Films India, to name a few. His works have been published in many National and International Exhibitions. He is also an Empanelled Professional with UNDP India, and Enhanse Foundation ( a Section 8 Company).
