The task was to setup the greenfield Bajaj Finserv Wealth Management business for the group under the companies; Bajaj Financial Solutions Ltd. and Bajaj Financial Securities Ltd.A first of its kind in India, the project successfully implemented the model of building a annual fee based financial planning and investment advisory business.

Dawnay Day AV was a joint venture with Dawnay, Day Group, UK and Alok Vajpeyi with 25% equity in an Employee Trust, for Arpit and his team. The group obtained PMS registration with SEBI, BSE, NSE, CDSL, NSDL registrations for the securities business and an in-principle licence for setting up an AMC in record time. The business was targeted at clients in the individual and institutional space and offered a wide range of services like wealth management, stock broking, portfolio management, asset management, real estate advisory retail distribution and research services and grew rapidly in 3 years to over 1800 people. The group recruited 500 candidates in a single academic year from over 60 business schools and was reputed to be a day minus / day zero company even at tier 1 institutes. The business was successfully sold in July 2008 at attractive valuation.

The business interests in India of the Dawnay, Day Group of UK were in Financial Services, Hospitality, Knowledge KPO, Asset management, and Real Estate Investments. The launch of an Art auction house was also being planned. As the MD & Group CEO of Dawnay Day's first and primary business in India, Arpit was given the task of replicating the businss model in India as in the UK. This included creating and managing the entire office real estate, mid and back office infrastructure for all the businesses of the group in India. This ensured synergies, cost savings, quality and most importantly compliance of Dawnay, Day UK internal group policies. Arpit attracted and retained top quality senior talent and grew them in responsibility to manage large and challenging roles across diverse businesses. Over time, some of the functions were embedded in the respective businesses with the overall management at the corporate headquarters reporting into Guy Naggar & Peter Klimt, the two Principals of the Dawnay, Day Group in UK.

Arpit conceptualised, branded and launched the Private Banking business for ICICI Bank on August 4, 2002 and grew it into an over 175 city and 350 branch business with AUM of over USD 6.5 bn by February 2006. It was the single largest Private Banking Business in India with its own brand identity which got recognised not only in India but globally. Arpit built out state of the art technology, processes, MIS and business intelligence platforms, launched India's largest Amateur Golf Tournament "ICICI Bank Private Banking Masters" which was played by over 3000 clients across 25 cities. A first of its kind in India, Arpit conducted a special 6 day Private Banking programme for 70 senior faculty members from 26 leading Indian MBA institutes and successfully designed and launched a Private Banking elective programme in each of those MBA Schools to create specialised talent for the wealth management industry.

For a majority of the tenure, the position of Head Private Banking was vacant. Arpit managed the Private Banking Business for BNP Paribas in India for both domestic as well as NRI Clients from concept, launch, product design, infrastructure building, hiring the team and building out the business. The business grew to an AUM of over USD 600 mn within 3 years.

Arpit conceptualised and launched the India's first true Private Client business for the erstwhile DSP Financial Consultants, susequently renamed DSP Merrill Lynch. The client base was Ultra HNI Resident Indians and Non Resident Indians. His association with the domestic Mutual Fund Industry started here when Kothari Pioneer Mutual Fund, the first Private Sector Mutual Fund in India was launched in late 1993.

Worked in the core Finance Group managing BILT and its several subsidiaries. Over 3 years did a host of functions including fund raising through one public and one rights issue. Worked with several domestic and foreign banks for working capital and with DFI's for term loans. Experience in takeover of sick companies, FX loans, leasing and FX. Balance sheet preparation and factory cash flow management. Overall a great learning first job where a small team had to manage almost the entire finance function for the Parent and Group Companies.
