Hydroxyapatite targeted fluorescence based diagnostic technique development for age related macular degeneration

Worked as a Junior Research Fellow under the project titled “Metagenomic approaches to explore polyketide synthase gene complex of chosen marine sponges”Achievements:• Isolated metagenomic DNA from marine sponge associated microbes using liquid nitrogen assisted tissue grinding.• Designed degenerate primer for polyketide synthase (PKS) gene screening to identify genes of interests of potential and novel natural product.• Screened polyketide synthase (PKS) and nonribosomal peptide synthetase (NRPS) gene from isolated metagenomic DNA.• Analyzed NGS sequence of metagenomics DNA using bioinformatics tools.• Led practical lab sessions, instructing graduate students on metagenomic DNA isolation and PCR identification.

Worked as a Project assistant under the project titled “Environmental pathogen detection and control by instrumentation and surveillance”Achievements:• Isolated pathogenic bacteria from clinical samples.• Screened bacteria via screening media Cetrimide agar, Eosin Methylene Blue Agar (EMB), Salmonella Shigella Agar (SS agar), Urea Broth Medium, Streptococcus Agar and Mannitol Salt Agar.• Maintained glycerol stock for the screened bacterial strains.• Isolated and purified prolipoprotein diacylglyceryl transferase (Lgt) enzyme from screened bacteria.• Investigated Lgt enzyme activity through SDS-PAGE and zymography.• Performed Lgt amino acid sequence analysis and molecular docking study for the obtained using Ramachandran plot, MODELLER and Schrodinger maestro.

Under the guidance of Chief Scientist Veena K. Parnaik, my research as an intern was centered on the topic "Analysis of lamin mutations in cardiomyopathy patients"Achievements:• Sub-cloned the mutant cDNA into Tol2 transposon pT2AL200R150G vector which bearing troponin cardiac promoter, it is specific to heart muscles.• Injected into zebrafish embryos for the in depth phenotypical analysis of heart.
