This illness is not a problem of just minority groups, such as homosexuals. This disease doesn’t discriminate due to race, age, sex or socio-economic levels: it is an equal-opportunity killer. Unfortunately, one of the biggest stumbling blocks behind preventing this disease is a lack of information and generalized misconceptions on who is at risk and what a person “with AIDS” or HIV is like. Based on realization, I started my photographic “Faces of Life” project in Dallas, TX, as a way to give a face (many faces, much too many faces) to people with HIV. I hope this will help spread the word and increase support all of those who are affected by HIV and AIDS, either personally or their family and loved ones. With “Faces of Life” I have traveled throughout the US and the world trying to contribute, through my work, to the many different charity associations who support this important cause of helping people who are just like you and me, but who have been touched by a killer virus. Remember, wearing a red ribbon doesn’t mean you are an HIV carrier or gay, it is simply a symbol of support for the living, and a sign of respect for the dead. Show less
