As a Data Engineer, I work with stakeholders to create large-scale data processing systems to support the analytical needs of internal users. Some responsibilities that support these processing systems include developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code for scalable cloud computing, ownership and maintenance of orchestration operations, and designing new patterns for data ingestion from legacy and new data sources.I have led integration projects that frequently require coordination with other teams for completion and mentored junior team members during the onboarding process and beyond.

As a graduate student, I learned the fundamentals of data science that prop up Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence. As part of the hands-on learning curriculum, I was frequently tasked with case studies that required my peers and me to apply the best model we had learned to build, whether that be supervised, unsupervised, XBGoost, tree or a variant of a neural net model. In the program, I focused on language processing models. I fine-tuned many models with different focuses on classification, summarization, generation, and question answering. All of this was before ChatGPT had become public. Thanks to my academic background, this made the popularity of ChatGPT that much more impressive when considering the infrastructure and learning required on the backend of that model.

I work alongside several agile teams to develop RESTful java web services in a SOA to connect the multitude of bank systems to one data warehouse. As a member of the DataPower team, I am responsible for building and documenting API design and functionality. By collaborating with the security team and product line managers, I create microservices that ensures information security and integrity.

As Vice President of Operations, I was responsible for writing policies and procedures that would better serve the organization on campus and improve effectiveness. Automated many procedures like attendance and study sessions by creating a private website for girls to log classes and attendance of events using the Google Location API.

SheCodes is a club that seeks to provide resources to women in STEM. As a member of SheCodes I attended workshops on interesting topics on Security and Big Data. Most importantly, SheCodes provided a network to meet others interested in attending hackathons. Some hackathons attended as a club included AthenaHacks, RoseHacks and HackPoly.

Worked alongside 3 other students to compete in the University of San Francisco Business Analytics Hackathon. The hackathon sought the best method to improve policing using predictive models of crime in San Francisco with the 50 GBs of data provided. By determining the districts and time periods that saw the highest crime rates, we were able to produce a solution that would advise the police force when and where to distribute personnel. Our Cal Poly team placed 2nd overall.

Monterey Park, California

I worked alongside the Technology Strategy and Incubation team to research and develop concepts for future data architectures to be used within the bank. I explored the benefit of the traditional Lambda data architecture versus its streaming counterpart, Kappa architecture. I developed data pipelines using Apache Kafka that supported streaming data and could provide basic real time analytics to stakeholders. I created python scripts that automated the conversion of input data types to one standardized output to improve data consistency. At the end of my internship, I presented my proof of concept to key stakeholders at the bank for consideration of implementing a new centralized data platform for use across North America.

As an Avanade Scholar, I was provided a financial scholarship and mentorship from women with experience within the field of computer science. I had the opportunity to network with other scholars across the country and attend the Avande Hackathon.
