RF Product Engineer turned RF Design Engineer. MSEE and six years of experience with being in the upper percentiles of individual contributors within the Aerospace & Defense market. Within the first four years of my career, I solved six and seven figure production bottlenecks by solving systemic failures at a technical level (RF, analog, and digital electronics), and within the past two years I have been designing discrete RF/Microwave Power amplifiers at MACOM.My penultimate career goal is to become a senior RF/Microwave Module Designer integrating cutting edge PAs, LNAs, mixers, filters, and analog/digital monitoring systems. What excites me most is taking fuzzy customer specifications, simulating the performance of a system for feasibility studies, then using my knowledge of specific suppliers to select the best COTS or DoD specific parts and design the system, and to tune it to squeeze the most performance out of it in the lab, in a timely manner. My career highlights thus far are: 1. MACOM: with full ownership of the product design until production hand-off, successfully designed several RF/Microwave Power amplifiers and associated application boards, and production boards. Air cavity, DFN and plastic TO packages, power levels from 10W to 1450W, and frequency range of 100MHz - 8GHz. Examples: MAPC-A3006-AB, MAPC-A3008-AB, MAPC-A3009-AB, MAPC-A1107-AB, and several other products in the launch pipeline. 2. VIASAT: tuning and streamlining the troubleshooting procedure of the MIDS JTRS Tactical Radio (now owned by L3Harris) whereby I individually troubleshot > 100 tactical radio modules ($3 million) in a six month time span and using the knowledge to write a 225 page troubleshooting guide containing RF, voltage, and resistance measurements of known-good product, for every corresponding test condition of sub-modules3. APEX MICROTECHNOLOGY: as a Sustaining Engineer of analog high power products and voltage references, was promoted to Product/Sustaining Engineer. Resolved systemic yield and test time issues for both active laser trim and electrical tests. Improved overall product yields to about 95% for top sellers and opened up several 6 figure to low 7 figure production bottlenecks in short order.
