Argos gave me an opportunity as a christmas temp but sadly that ended at the end of December 2013. I had to use my own initiative sometimes but most of the time I worked as part of a team getting jobs done and hitting our targets. They had a wall called the 'Geek Wall' this is where they placed members of staff in categories on what knowledge they have most of in store and in my case I was placed under Technology. Whenever a customer came into store looking for a specific tablet or mobile i would make sure that I looked at the best for them based on their use of the product. I became good at building rapport with customers making them feel welcome all the time. Taking and making phone calls was part of the job and I thoroughly enjoyed doing that. I was based on customer services many shifts which entailed in dealing with customer complaints and doing refunds and answering enquiries. As long as the customer leaves the shop happy with the service thst the company and I have given it makes me feel like i have done my job properly.

During my time at McDonalds i gained some new skills looking at how to handle food and making surebthat the work place was clean and ready to work on. I cash handelled and msde uo my float for the till, delivering outstanding customer service idps what drives me and this was one thing that I had no problem in doing. I had to prepare and cook the food that went out to the customers so precision and effort went into everything I did.

This is the first job I have had, so going into this job with it being voted “the best big company to work for in the UK”, is an achievement to me and being trained up to become an excellent worker and an overall better individual.My position within the company is a sales assistant - stock control. My role includes; spending time in a coldstore and pulling stock. I am second in charge of the frozen department which means that when the first person in charge is not in, I have to step up and make sure that the shop floor is full and product perfect, so that when the area manager comes in to do inspections, the store is up to the level that the company expects and I take pride in what I do.I am half way through my Duty Manager training (ET&D - Electronic Training and Development) which involves trust within me having to cash handle takings, from cashing up tills, to safe checks. I log maintenance calls if and when needed. I am also trusted to open and close the store as I am only around the corner.Part of this training gives me the chance to get to know the staff as well, as it is part of the behavioral training, which lets me identify staff and customers of their needs. Customers are part of what make a business so I try my hardest to deliver the best customer service possible. I also do Service and Standard (SAS) walks which I have to make sure the store is in a good condition, and so that nothing is wrong, so when the area manager comes into the store, the store is up to the standards that the company expects the store to be. So overall I have gained many skills including talking and communicating with customers, time managing, how to adapt to company procedures.
