After dissolving "iDelfi Polska" I was trying to build my own company alone. Sadly, if you are busy with the business side, you don't have time for coding. And vice versa. In the end, all that I've earned during that time, has been taken by the tax office. If not the help of my parents, I wouldn't be able to feed my family.But some day, a recruiter has asked me: "- Would you also consider working in Munich? You know, this in Germany?" "- Hmm... Why not?"And so it came to be, that a few months later I was leaving the Munich Airport with my favourite coffee mug, a backpack with basic clothes, and a "German for Beginners" book.The "12Auto" (read as "eins-zwei-auto") was combining the best of two worlds - a small, startup-like company, with a backing of a huge "ProSieben" media corporation: amongst other, the canteen with the best food ever.We were working on creation and support of several portals and websites related to automobiles. One of them was autoplenum.de - a many years old Rails application, very big, and very important. After some time I have specialized in working with this monster, and I was enjoying it. Since it was complex AND mission critical, my perfectionism was *exactly* what was needed there. I enjoyed it very much.The people there were fantastic! Quite often after work we were still hanging out together, visiting various Munich pubs, bars, cinemas... There was also my first Oktoberfest experience. And Frühlingsfest. And Marcel has invited us once to visit his home city in Austria... Oh, that was a really good time.In 2015 my company has nominated me for "P7S1 Allstars Award" in category "Business Performance". (This is something like Oscars, just cooler). I haven't won the competition, but the nomination itself was a great honour. I keep the glass statuette as one of my most precious treasures until this day. :-)In 2016 I have left the company. For many years (until 2024 when I found out about "Wetware Crisis") I was asking myself why.

With a few friends (e.g. two of the co-owners of the Ideico - my previous employers), we have created "iDelfi Polska". Together we have built a system to manage ISO certification documentations for small and large companies dealing with food processing.The others were responsible for the finances, marketing, domain knowledge, and I was responsible for everything related to the software. A brilliant hacker (in the real sense - not what the media tend to understand under this word) was responsible for our hosting and hardware, and I have programmed the soft parts our system with my bare hands. I had the opportunity to hire a few developers, I had the pleasure to fire one, and the sad duty of telling a few others that we cannot afford them any more. Our system was working great, with users being generally very pleased, but we have hit a problem of finding enough new clients to grow. At some point we decided to give up.I was free to use anything I deemed reasonable, but I was also fully responsible for everything. And that was the best experience ever. If you have to apology to your clients for any bug, writing letters signed with your own name, you learn pretty well to write and respect the tests, and how to write good software, where bugs are rare, and changing or refactoring is not a problem even after a few years.One of my best decisions was that I have thrown away the first version of our system. At that time I had just started my adventure with Ruby On Rails, and I did not know the framework nor the ruby language well enough. But the second version survived and remained maintainable until the very end.I was experimenting with the XHMTL (strict! yeah!), SVG, full text search in PostgreSQL, I got awarded with admin rights in the open-source project TinyMCE for maintaining their documentation (we were using that editor), and I have learned many, many other things. I was really happy for a very long time there. :-)
