I've been in the software industry since 2001. Back then I was 17, Facebook was still not there, and we used AltaVista for web search. From that moment, I climbed up and down, sometimes shifted sideways, trying to experience any adventure that the industry had to offer. That certainly cost me something between 5 and 7 years as compared to more spearheaded careers, but helped me secure decent levels of expertise in a variety of directions.
