Prakriya is an alternative school that focuses on holistic learning. I worked collaboratively with other educators to find practical and suitable ways to deliver lessons to children, so that they were able to make their own meanings and relate what they learn to their surroundings. Teach For India is part of the Teach For All network, and this rigorous two-year Fellowship program led to great personal growth and professional development for me. During my Fellowship, I was responsible for • Teaching children in a low-income school• Collaborating with stakeholders and community members• Acting as a mentor to at-risk and vulnerable students• Deepening my knowledge of educational inequity in India and identifying my role in working with children• Applying my knowledge of child development in my classroom and promoting participation and collaboration amongst my studentsI was chosen to be part of a corporate pilot teaching and learning intervention to integrate technology in the classroom to help students engage and learn.A significant part of my Fellowship was organizing fundraisers to ensure children had a holistic, enjoyable and rewarding education in a safe and conducive environment. I engaged with different audiences, wrote and appealed to donors, and used social media to build awareness and post updates. I raised funds to- help build toilets for a school (2016)- help set up a library by buying and collecting books and resources (2017 and 2018)- sponsor school fees for children from under-resourced communities (2020-2022)
