I joined the Canadian Navy in 1986 as a communicator. I served on ships and ashore in a variety of capacities including:An instructor at the Naval Operations School; On the staff of the sea-going headquarters of NATO's Standing Naval Force Atlantic; Leading the section responsible for extending the navy's classified networks to ships in the immediate post-911 crisis; The Senior Naval Communicator of HMCS IROQUOIS when the ship led a multi-national force protecting convoys and patrolling the Persian Gulf and Gulf of Oman; Leading the department which included the Help Desk, Service Teams, and Network Service Teams for all of CFB Halifax; As a Project Director at the national headquarters in Ottawa responsible for the installation of high capacity, military grade, satellite communications systems for Canada's fleet.After retirement I worked as a Project Coordinator with Matrix Construction Ltd. Since January 2019 I have been the Chief of the Boat for HMCS Sackville, Canada’s official Naval Memorial.
