Tasked with working with all 34 affiliated clubs, volunteer organisations, relevant bodies and stakeholders to promote motorsport at a grass roots level and develop relationships with local communities.Insurance issues saw financial restructuring in the organisation which meant I took on additional roles and duties within the organisation.Some key achievements in this time:- Assisting in the creation of the first two youth academies for Motorsport Ireland affiliated clubs.- Working with the rlevant commissions to create better pathways through the sport, particularly in relation to rallying and karting, by introducing new classes and lowering age limits.- Creation of a club toolkit to aid affiliated clubs, helping club to help themselves including creation of event regulation templates for all disciplines.- Securing private funding (over €500,000 to date), for the funding of Motorsport Ireland high performance driver programmes as well as co-ordinating said programmes.- Creating and implementing Motorsport Ireland’s social media policy, the first Irish NGB to have one.- Project manager of Motorsport Ireland Awards and project manager of the Motorsport Ireland Yearbook, which is produced each year.- Appointed as the youngest ever member of the Motorsport Ireland Serious Incident Communication Group. On the strength of my off screen reporting I was approached by Sportsvision to help present their coverage of the Irish Tarmac Rally Championship. As well as presenting and doing interviews I also oversee scripting and I am in charge of camera logistics over a rally weekend. The shows air on UTV, TG4, Sky Sports 3 and Irish TV bringing in combined viewing figures of 100,000 per show across all stations.
Tour Guide
For every summer from 2009 to 2012 I worked as a walking tour guide in Sligo town giving 2 hour guided tours of the town. The tour was written, promoted and delivered by myself and saw year on year increases in numbers. By the end of 2012, over 3,000 people from 71 countries had sampled my tours.
