An IQOE-sponsored workshop recommended that IQOE develop the idea of low-cost hydrophones for research, education, and citizen science, distinct from more expensive calibratable hydrophones that are needed for observations as part of the Global Ocean Observing System. This task team will hold discussions and gather community input and report back to the 2024 IQOE Science Committee meeting.

Monitor My Lockdown is an open data analytics venture that measures reduction in human movements due to COVID-19 lockdowns using live seismic data so that policymakers can manage the pandemics better.Lockdowns are essential to break human to human transmission of the virus but come with political, economic, social and health costs. MonitorMyLockdown.com provides a tool to policymakers to enforce surgical lockdowns based on time and location to reduce the costs. It allows health workers to predict when and where COVID-19 cases are likely to spike and can move testing kits and personal protection equipments (PPEs) to those locations.

I work in the FINCH Payload - Electrical team. I work on image compression algorithms for use in fast data transmission between satellite and ground stations. In specific, I work with Discrete Cosine Transformation (DCT) compression and the Discrete Wavelet Transformation (DWT) compression - and use these to implement the JPEG2000 algorithm in Python.
