The publication of an art catalogue plays a fundamental role in the “existence” of the exhibition itself. Besides the obvious institutional and social benefits involved in the preproduction of a catalogue, its production constructs, first and foremost, the imaginary view of a place that still does not exit. Then, during the coexistence of both — physical and printed — places, the catalogue strengthens the importance of the pieces and the work done by the curators. In visual arts, it is the main tool of prestige and, in essence, the proof of its “place” in the field.After the exhibition is over, only the catalogue remains, along with the photographic record of the space, now empty, which contained that exhibition. So finally, as in a magic trick, the catalogue is no longer a project or a mere printed paper, but the exhibition “itself”.

Film and art are about living, experimenting and challenging boundaries and that is what aluCine has strived to do since its humble beginnings in 1993. aluCine is organized by Southern Currents, a Toronto-based, not-for-profit organization dedicated to the development and presentation of contemporary media art by local artists of Latin American heritage; the presentation of international Latino works in Canada; and the presentation of Canadian works in Latin America and elsewhere.

Focusing on the extraordinary diversity found in works by Latino-Canadian artists and artists from the Latin diaspora, aluCine Latin Film + Media Arts Festival has been taking place in Toronto annually since 1995. aluCine is the longest-running Latin film festival in Canada, providing a voice for numerous filmmakers who would otherwise go unheard. 

For the last thirteen years, aluCine has helped to establish contact between Latin American filmmakers living in Latin America and those residing in Canada. In addition to screening films in Canada and abroad, aluCine has been hosting performances and new media installations, symposia, panel discussions and talks from visiting artists since 2002, all of which focus on the state of contemporary image making in Latin America and among Canada’s Latin community.

The "Art: essays and documents" [Arte: ensaios e documentos] Collection aims to enter in the debate about art in Brazil and contribute towards its deeper understanding. It is therefore based on three strategies: the publication of new essays about the most important art issues in the current debate, the publication of new texts about international aesthetics and art history and republication of basic texts in the Brazilian Art historiography.

The main aim of Pomares Magazine is to disseminate the work in southern Brazil by the Vera Chaves Barcellos Foundation, an institution dedicated to the visual arts. The magazine provides a special space for texts from the fields of art history, criticism, curating and exhibition design, together with visual essays by guest artists.

I was responsible for publishing the luxury art books of the Bayramov Museum.

I worked on curating, publications, and as a museologist to build the Bayramov Museum. The museum's mission is to promote art through the study, dissemination and preservation of works of the Turkmen artist Durdy Bayramov.

"VISIT curatorial art magazine"​ intends to create reflection and dialogue about the conceptions, the museum's actions and social issues involved in the curatorial process.The cutout in curating allows us to think about museology, architecture, historical heritage, art system, production, art agents, audiences, and educational projects.Physically, VISIT is distributed mainly, but not only, in the cities of Toronto, Montreal (Canada), Los Angeles and New York (USA).http://visitmagazine.org/

The festival encompasses four programs: Competitive, Invited, Bra-zoo-kah (films by Brazilians living abroad), and Brazil Through Foreign Eyes (films by non-Brazilian filmmakers about Brazil).The Competitive Program receives 300 submissions annually, and selected films compete for the Golden Maple Award in the short, medium-length, and feature film categories. The curator is responsible for selecting the films that will be screened.Education is paramount to the festival; it could be in the form of a workshop, seminar and panel discussions on culture, society and the Brazilian cinema and media production.The Festival also includes activities related to the film industry, creating a platform for exchanging of information and encourage business opportunities between the two countries.

I directed for 14 years the Zouk Books (one of the bests publishers specialized in art and sociology in Brazil) which also involved a cultural centre. I administrated not only the publishing company, but also an art gallery, three bookshops, a coffee shop and rooms to courses and seminars. As an editor, I worked directly in the creation of more than 120 books, some of them awarded by the São Paulo Biennial Foundation, ABCA Award, Açorianos Award, Fumproarte e Funarte.
