I was responsible for bring existing code togreater maturity through improvements in tech stack, architecture, as well as use of third party modules. My principle project in this period, Vertical X --powered by the Hanzo core, is a platform for standing up full-featured marketplaces in multiple verticals (for example, media projects, or import / export). It also allows for the democratization of investment via cryptocurrencies as well as standard financial instruments. I've served as Front-End Lead since just after it's inception, creating a tiered framework, developed user experience, and a React Native app.

Lyra Solar, formerly SolarDesignTool.com, is a highly sophisticated design, budgeting, and permit planning tool that allows solar designers and contractors to significantly streamline their processes and achieve results. I've been involved with the organization off and on since its early days, so was glad to pitch in to this major redesign and port from an Enterprise Java monolith, to a React front-end and modern service-oriented Java backend. I designed sections of API's, as well as a UI forms generation mechanism that allows the backend to specify complex field interactions, and helped design a modern and powerful tool for designers.

MC2 is social venture focused accomplishing tangible good in a clear and measurable way. It aims to transform the way users do common acts of altruism, civic engagement, and environmental benefit. A launching pad for engagement and action, it brings together action takers, and those that want to sponsor and encourage them. I led two junior developers in writing a full-featured Facebook messenger bot, a React web app that allows for Geo and topic search of doable actions, an impact map that shows actions available and actions taken, and a backend that allows for creation of action "playlists" for users to discover. Its first commercial application was a phone app that used highly intelligent and specific to arrange end-user meetings and travel. "Find me a place in any major city, near public transit, that seats at least 30, is wheelchair accessible, and near a tapas-style place that has a full bar.... Ok, now invite the following people and arrange it based on their availability and importance to the meeting. " I was responsible for the view tier of the app, which included features similar to yelp, maps, etc, as well as the development and maintenance of an UI framework that was lean, mean, and well-coupled to the model tier.

Helped a technical publishing company port and migrate 6 large commercial websites from an Adobe Publish CMS infrastructure, to Silverstripe 3.1. I was the principle UI engineer responsible for all markup and skinning. Developing a core UI framework of Silverstripe markup templates, as well as Sass rules for tiered, cascading designs. Before the accent of Google, Inktomi was a leader in network and corporate search tools. I was a senior member of a small UI team, architecting and implementing suites of tools company-wide. Developed middle-tier Java logic for interface to core Inktomi code, as well as a nuanced presentation tier that allow simple modification of interfaces and customization by end-users.

Helped architect and develop RenderSuite, the Enterprise Java based presentation tier of the ePropose’s collaborative commerce transactional platform, as part of a 3 person team.

Designed and implemented a 3-tier investment application including a rich client, a heterogeneous middle tier, as well as interfaces to legacy systems. Wrote a markup generation framework that allowed for the easy creation of dynamic content from Java for customizable document generation.

Co-lead on a Java-based VR authoring tool for VRML (Virtual Reality Modeling Language) built on top the Worldview browser. Developed 3D architecture for editing features like drag-and-drop, attachment points, constrained motion, and smart snap-to behavior based on semantic relationships (eg, table and chair). Helped design and implement core infrastructure like event management, threading, and plugin architectures.

Principle architect and co-lead for a multimedia engine and authoring library for producing "edutainment" titles. Releases including the award-winning "Daring to Fly!", "Coral Reef!", and "The Animals 2.0". Saw code from design and inception to the making of 4 commercial releases over 3 years with one other engineer.
