In my role I worked as part of a small projects team alongside two other interns, supporting two senior apprentices andlead engineer in completing large scale projects, as well as offering support to managersacross the site in their local projects. Some of my daily tasks included:• Developing technical specifications, liaison and management of vendors / contractors. • Using CAD software (AutoCAD, Inventor) to assist project design stages and support workflow changes, e.g. process automation, workflow, and equipment layouts.• Supporting CAPEX investment activity through feasibility studies & project proposals. • Implementing Health and Safety across the site.• Supporting Continuous Improvement projects, implementation of process improvements and training.During that year I learned more than I could have imagined and worked with some great people that have helped me develop my skills where I could confidently take responsibility and be relied upon to undertake tasks. Some key moments included: • Proposing and implementing 5S standards to another site with the CI Leader.• Guiding a new intern joining the projects team, assisting with CAD and delegating small tasks.• Undergoing Kaizen Time Study training and attending CI projects where my contributions to the team helped bring improvements to the site.
