Art Howe is a former Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist who has spent 30 years starting and building transformative media, technology and life science companies. He is currently co-founder and CEO of Imtol, Inc., a Philadelpia-based biotech company developing a therapy for multiple sclerosis. Previously, he co-founded Imvax™ in 2015 after launching, acquiring and building more than 50 media and technology companies. Imvax (www.imvax.com) is a clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on development of patient-specific whole tumor-derived immunotherapies for the treatment of malignant gliomas and other cancers with unmet needs. The company was recognized by Fierce Biotech as one of the top 15 biotech companies of 2020.Prior to Imvax, Howe was in the media and technology industry. He served as a marketing executive, finance director, chairman, CEO and founder of more than 30 newspapers, specialty publications, event marketing companies, and high-growth tech startups. Howe co-founded Verve in 2005, when he recognized that mobile technology would transform media consumption. Verve (www.verve.com) powered the first news and information app on Apple’s iPhone, and became the #1 rated news app on iPad. Verve evolved into the leading North American mobile data platform for location-based marketing, serving more than 200 million devices worldwide. It was acquired in 2020 by MGI Group Howe has been a board member, board chair, and advisor to many technology and media companies, including Candid (www.candid.org), the world's largest information source on nonprofit organizations and foundations. Howe has received numerous journalism and public service recognitions, including the Pulitzer Prize, the Scripps Public Service Award, and the inaugural Ben Franklin Award for publishing excellence. Recently, he was inducted into the Pennsylvania Publishers Association Hall of Fame. Two alternative weeklies he operated, the Village Voice and the LA Weekly, won Pulitzer Prizes for international reporting and commentary. Howe holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from the Wharton School.
