Arkansas Learning Through the Arts provides supplemental Arts & Literacy programs for underserved and rural schools in Arkansas. Currently focused in the south central region west of Little Rock, ALTTA is working to expand its reach into the AR delta in the eastern part of the state.

Coordinating communication with City of Norfolk leaders and liasons, disseminating community information, programing speakers, representing the community at city advisory meetings and panels.

Prepare all repertoire to a professional level, serve as role model for all singers, collaborate with the director of the symphony chorus as required. Served as the Equity, Diversity, & Inclusion Chair for the Virginia Symphony Chorus.

The Urban Music Leadership Conference is a yearly event focusing on the needs & initiatives of music programs in urban school systems. Through direct instructional observation and peer sharing, conference attendees are made aware of program & instructional best practices, community/corporate support initiatives & partnerships that expand the musical opportunities for all students in the host school system. Through this peer-share process we hope to increase the opportunities for music instruction & promote best practice in an ever increasing number of urban systems across the country.The conference is held annually in the fall, usually the 3rd week of October.

Choral director; with experience on both the Middle and High School levels I endeavor to bring well rounded, thoughtfully sequenced instruction to my students. I seek out opportunities for personal growth and advancement through local and state level conferences and professional organization (MENC, ACDA) sponsored events. In 2010 I was awarded the designation of National Board Certified Teacher.As Elective Department Chair, since 2003, I communicate/clarify administrative & school division expectations to teachers in the Foreign Language, Technology, Business, Art and Music disciplines. I mentor new teachers in the department, conduct informal & formal observations, provide instructional feedback/support and draft summative evaluations for the administration.Through my tenure at NPS I have served multiple times as All-City Middle School Chorus Chair/Coordinator for the NPS system; assisting with repertoire selection, rehearsal coordination and event management.I have served multiple times as District Chorus Chair for District II of the Virginia Choral Directors Association. This involved coordinating student meals for the two day event, hotels for guest conductors & students/teachers from schools on the Eastern Shore, repertoire selection & communication with guest conductors, overseeing receipt of student fees and managing the budget for the event. For the VCDA I served two terms as District Chair, and for the Virginia Music Educators Association, 1 term as District Representative.

Without a chorus manager, my responsibilities over the past decade have included: all artistic programming (selecting/preparing/conducting all program repertoire for each concert), recommending venues for performance to the board for contracting, preparing the program book, posters and tickets for each concert, maintaining the chorus library, serving as the lead person for all promotional activities/PR events and providing recommendations to the board in regard to successful development and recruiting.

As section leader, I vocally prepared for all programmed service repertoire and led sectional rehearsals as necessary. After 1993 my role expanded to maintaining the music library of the Chancel Choir, directing service music when called upon and monitoring/submitting payroll reports for the 8 section leaders on a monthly basis. During 3 different junctures in 1996, ca. 2001 and 2004 I served as Interim Director as the church searched for full time directors. During these interim periods I prepared the yearly budget for the Chancel Choir, planned/prepared all service music, programmed & directed special concerts and worked collaboratively with the church pastorate and administrative staff.

Professional Core/Section Leader.

I began my public school teaching career at this school, teaching grades 6 though high school during my two years there. A number of years later the school was annexed by the adjoining Little Rock School District.During my second year at J. A. Fair, I planned/coordinated the 2 day District Chorus Festival (over 80 representative choruses) as well as the Honors Chorus Festival which showcased only those schools scoring a superior rating at the larger District Festival.
