In this position I assist the commander with budget, policy and management issues related to USAMRIID infrastructure and programs. This includes a wide array of activities including but not limited to: technical and planning functions, program reviews, infrastructure and program analysis, and technology assessments. I provide insight into strategic planning and prioritization. Specific duties are as follows:- Assist the Commander, USAMRIID in managing infrastructure efforts (which includes physical infrastructure and intellectual capital). - Assist the Commander with assessment of USAMRIID core competencies as they relate to the USAMRIID mission. - Strategically plan work that is aligned to those core competencies. - Maintain objectives, measures, and metrics to gauge the current health of the USAMRIID infrastructure.- Coordinate the collection of infrastructure data (including requirements, utilization rates, sustainment costs, etc.) from internal business units. - Serve as the principal advisor to the Commander pertaining to all matters regarding infrastructure supporting the USAMRIID mission. - Develop and assess appropriate courses of action and provide recommendations to the Commander to address infrastructure issues within USAMRIID. - Synchronize activities of internal business units (i.e. the Command Budget Estimate) and develop coordinated recommendations in regards to infrastructure resourcing. - Ensure USAMRIID stakeholder awareness of infrastructure investments and sustainment efforts.- Advocate the development, sustainment, and divestment of required infrastructure to support the USAMRIID mission.- Establish tools, processes, and products to integrate infrastructure capabilities and identify unnecessary duplication to meet mission requirements.- Monitor and coordinate with outside agencies, academia, and industry to understand opportunities and infrastructure capabilities available to support the USAMRIID mission.

Assist the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Chemical and Biological Defense with technical and planning functions, program reviews, infrastructure and program analysis, and technology assessments. Work with defense-wide technology, strategic planning and prioritization. Responsibilities Include:Assisting the OASD (NCB/CB) in managing Chemical and Biological Defense Program (CBDP) infrastructure efforts and capabilities (which includes physical infrastructure and intellectual capital) and actively leading the assessment, analysis, integration, and advocacy of infrastructure as it relates to CBDP plans, programs, budgets, and execution for requirements needed to counter CB threats.Coordinating the collection of infrastructure data (including requirements, utilization rates, sustainment costs, etc.) from CBDP components and leading the analyses and evaluation of this data to maximize efficiencies of the assets that support the CBDP mission.Developing and assessing appropriate courses of action and providing recommendations to OASD (NCB/CB) and other principals to address infrastructure issues within the CBDP. Serving as the principal advisor to OASD (NCB/CB) pertaining to all matters regarding infrastructure supporting the CBDP and, as such, collaborating with OSD. Synchronizing activities of CBDP components and developing coordinated recommendations to fund courses of action. Ensuring CBDP stakeholder awareness of infrastructure investments and sustainment efforts.Advocating for the development, sustainment, and divestment of required infrastructure to support the CBDP mission.Establishing tools, processes, and products to integrate infrastructure capabilities and identify unnecessary duplication to meet mission requirements.Monitoring and coordinating with outside agencies, international partners, academia, and industry to understand opportunities and infrastructure capabilities available to support the CBDP mission.

My responsibilities include:1) Developing an international engagement strategy that will guide international US Army science and technology cooperation.2) Implement the strategy in a manner that is in alignment with priorities of US Army Headquarters.3) Maintain oversight over US Army international science and technology engagements to make sure we are developing partnerships that are beneficial to both the US Army and our partnering nations.4) Ensure that funds spent on international cooperation are executed in a manner that is beneficial to US Army Headquarters.5) Attend Senior cooperative engagement forums between the US Army and our partnering nations.6) Process taskers (request for information) from US Army Headquarters and the Office of the Secretary of Defense that pertain to international science and technology cooperation.

I run a research team that is currently focused on developing pathogenesis models for Category A viral agents like Marburg virus in containment. These models are necessary not only for undestanding disease pathogenesis and identifying intervention points but also for use in development of candidate vaccines and therapeutics. I also have extensive experience doing similar work with Variola and Monkeypox virus. I am an experienced GLP (Good Laboratory Practice) study director and as such have been in charge of a large multidisciplinary research team. I am responsible for personell management, planning, budgeting, and study execution.
