As a senior auditor, I am primarily responsible for performing program evaluations and reviews of US Postal Service operations. I also provide guidance and support to less experienced team members. In this position I am responsible for finding opportunities to improve organization and system efficiency. As a member of the Retail, Revenue and Customer Service Directorate these reviews often focus on seeking opportunities for the Postal Service to be able to provide better opportunities to maximize revenue. I regularly conduct detailed analysis that is both quantitative and qualitative in nature. At times I have served in an acting capacity of an Operations Manager. When acting in this capacity I have handled issues involving assigning work tasks and ensuring that employees have the support and tools available to complete their assigned tasks. I also worked closely with senior management to ensure they were kept up to date on all activities. I provided feedback to management on employees assigned to projects I was responsible for. Some specific projects I have been involved with include assisting with a round table discussion of professional mailer organizations and OIG leadership, an audit to look into the causes and costs of mail that cannot be delivered as addressed, and an audit on operations at the USPS Mail Recovery Center, which resulted in the identification of several significant opportunities to improve operations and employee safely.

As an Audit Liaison, I was responsible for managing the agency coordination with internal and external organizations performing audits of the Agency. I served as a coordinator for audits being conducted and ensured the effective communication between agency personnel and the auditors. These audits involved issues relating to internal controls on both financial and programmatic issues, and commonly dealt with issues relating to the application of Title 23 of the Code of Federal Regulations. At any one time the Agency was involved with several audits covering areas such as the Agency's contract award practices, a review of the Department's Enterprise Architecture system, the Department's information security program. This responsibility included ensuring that senior management was kept apprised of activities that affected their areas of responsibility. I regularly interacted with personnel at all levels of management from Team Leaders, Directors, members of the Senior Executive Service, and political appointees. I was commonly involved with collecting and compiling data to respond to data calls related to audits. Additionally, I was in charge of coordinating responses to recommendations made by the Office of Inspector General (OIG) and Government Accountability Office (GAO). Audit recommendations involved the development of new internal control procedures and the determination of the use of federal funds on specific projects. I conducted independent analysis to confirm or refute auditor findings by using FMIS and RADS to gather data and run reports. I assisted in the development of an Internet webpage using SharePoint to create a database for managing and tracking OIG and GAO audits and recommendations.

As a Management and Program Analyst and a member of the Highway and Surface Transportation audit group I worked on seven projects/products. They include: American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 Scan of Federal Highway Administration (ARRA SCAN), Status of Operating Administrations’ processes to Conduct Limited Data Quality Reviews of Recovery Act Recipient Data, Investigation of Nebraska Local Public Agency Oversight Hotline Complaint, Local Public Agency Federal-aid Project Oversight, FHWA Oversight of High-Dollar ARRA Projects, an ARRA advisory on Value Engineering, and Top Management Challenges for 2011. The audits involved review and evaluation of a variety of subject areas considering the appropriate application of FHWA guidance, regulations, rules, and Federal and State laws that govern FHWA.
