Served as a consultant and coach to numerous midsize and small community hospitals undertaking various clinical improvement initiatives in the areas of stroke, inpatient glycemic control, venous thromboembolic disease (VTE) and the Surgical Care Improvement Project (SCIP). Identified institutional quality priorities and improved utilization of evidence based medicine (EBM) through the use of Six Sigma methodology to Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control clinical care processes. Through this role, I collaborated with the Joint Commission to identify and facilitate hospitals interested in Disease Specific Certification. Additionally, I partnered with state organizations such as Department of Health and Hospitals and the state QIO on population health projects particularly around stroke and diabetes.

My responsibilities included the management of Plant Operations, Dietary, Patient Transportation, Construction Projects and Housekeeping—approximately 185 FTE’s. During this time, led the transition of Support Services from multi-skilled workers to departmental workers to improve employee and patient satisfaction. I also served as a member of the Senior Leadership Council and Administrator On-Call. Additionally, I led or was involved in numerous projects including a six month pilot for a Pediatric Emergency Room and other various quality improvement initiatives. These projects included numerous presentations and recommendations to the Quality Improvement Council and the Governing Board.
