Build farms & farm stands in areas of our city designated food deserts & create small business opportunities to hire residents from that neighborhood either farming ; building hoop houses ; or marketing healthy affordable food for all . Never turning anyone away if they have no financial resources that day ; expanding to teach how to prepare healthy meal options ; partner with community groups to set up their own farm stand & working to focus on those members of the community who are home bound & have no access to healthy food ; evolving & expanding everyday to serve more residents & reduce more waste ! Part-Time Teacher ; we are growing healthy food : YEAR ROUND in hoop houses at HEMS & showing parents : students : teachers the benefits of growing healthy local organic foods & selling to local restaurants & donating to area shelters . We are recycling & composting on campus to reduce waste & create a sustainable circle with our garden . We also work with the math , science & art teachers to use outdoor teaching methods to help students learn.
