From the creative to the technical, I bring 21st Century know-how and gusto to storytelling. For 20+ years, I have brought my forward-thinking and deep knowledge of media forms to shape non-fiction, reality-based TV news and documentaries. For the past 18 years, I have been in Video News. As content manager for San Francisco’s Educational Access Channel, I acquired timely, relevant cultural and intellectual programming that contributed to the diversity of the college and off-campus community. I helped the college’s campaign to retain accreditation by producing internal videos aimed at staff and commercials geared to new enrollments. I am savvy in all things media: a digital and analog citizen first and a journalist second. I am a people person, meaning I work well on teams, hob nob, and engage new people. My strong interpersonal skills are complemented by my no-nonsense and cogent writing style. I understand the inner-workings of computer operations from the client side to servers as I have sat behind Atari 800s, IBM clones, Dell servers, workstations and laptops. Let’s just say, I have taken a few bytes of Apple products. I’ve opened computers to change the RAM like MacGyver and kicked them like the Fonz. I am efficient in my video editing, digital content workflow, hands-on video camera and audio work, and studio operations and set-up.Just like great rock bands or rappers have a team of people in the background making them look good on stage, I make sure that the professional presenters of the news -- anchors and reporters, men and women of all races and persuasions -- look their best when describing the thousands of moving images that I edit. I do my job right to make them look good and sound intelligent, thoughtful, and empathetic to the audience. I create visual connections for the people who watch. I search for the best shots and use a filmmaker’s eye, so viewers experience, see and hear the video from history’s front lines. I am confident, and my wisdom increases as I get older. I know that the younger generation is chomping at the bit to get to where I am. It doesn’t matter. I teach them how I approach work. How to respect the world and how to treat others. Respect my opinion, and I respect yours. Besides, I find working with young people refreshing and enlightening. I learn as much from them as I hope they learn from me. Lead by example is my way to approach work and play.
